Klee Kai Dog

Klee Kai Dog. It is an energetic intelligent dog with an appearance that reflects its northern heritage. High-energy and alert this breed is quite the handful compared to similarly sized toy dogs.

The Alaskan Klee Kai was originally developed in the 1970s by a breeder named Linda Spurlin in an effort to create a companion-sized version of the Alaskan Husky. Through the 1970s and 1980s the Spurlins carefully chose and bred dogs held to their high standards for appearance and physical and mental soundness thus creating this rare breed. The Alaskan Klee Kai is a spitz -type breed of dog developed in the late 20th century as a companion-sized dog resembling the larger Alaskan Husky and Siberian Husky.

As a relatively new breed of pup the Alaskan Klee Kai has a rich history of breeding. This lovely little breed is not yet recognized by major cynology. The Alaskan Klee Kai is highly devoted to his owners. The words Klee Kai come from an Inuit term meaning small dog which is appropriate for this breed that is a smaller version of its Husky ancestors.
